Cinematographer Santhosh Sivan is out to surprise us again. After trying his hand at direction and succeding in it, he is all set to don the grease paint for a film. He will essay the role of Raja Ravi Varma in 'Makaramanju', directed by reputed filmmaker Lenin Rajendran.

The film has another star debutante, Karthika. She is the daughter of yesteryear heroine Radha. Karthika has made her debut in films with 'Josh', opposite Nag Chaitanya in Telugu.

Santhosh Sivan, son of cameraman Sivan and brother of director Sangeeth Sivan, is one of the finest cinematographers in India. Some of his films, such as 'The Terrorist', 'Ashoka' and 'Tahaan', have been widely acclaimed.
